The time of the year every senior school student looks forward to… student council elections had arrived! The process which involved 30% student votes, 30% teachers votes, and 40% jury votes started off with students registering themselves through a google form link and answering why they are best fit for their student council positions.
By the time the following week rolled around, the senior school wing was filled with colourful posters, and students adorned in badges. Classroom walls echoed campaign speeches. The end goal: student council. |
This is so far the biggest student council Dubai Scholars has ever seen. Everyone has been given a chance to showcase their talent, with new positions like digital media coordinators, performing arts directors, arts and design directors, etc.
Here is what, Saud Sajjid, a voter had to say regarding the election process: “The elections in my view were done exceptionally well, everyone was respectful and honest. The 30% teachers, 30% students and 40% jury votes was a good idea as it enables student leaders to be elected on the basis of ability rather than popularity” This in turn shows that our students trust the process and trust that those elected represent THEM. |
